What’s all the buzz about cellular health?

You’ve probably heard these couple of words bandied about. But perhaps you don’t know what all the buzz is about, what cellular health actually is, or why it’s so important. Well, let’s try and clear things up! Never have we been so conscious of our own well-being than now. Every day, we’re bombarded with information on diets, exercise, sleep, breathing, yoga, mindfulness, and so on. Often such advice has a holistic focus. That is, it’s centered on the whole person, both one’s mind and body, on a large scale. Cellular health is different. It zooms in on the smallest but most essential components of our bodies. There are, in fact, as many as 37.2 trillion human cells in the body. That’s thirty, followed by twelve zeros. Or rather 300 times the stars in the galaxy if you prefer. Each cell has its own purpose and is like a living being.

Why is it so important to look after our cells?

Just as we are what we eat, the health of our cells reflects our overall health. If our cells age, we age. If they are sick, we are sick. If they began to die, and aren’t replaced quick enough, then our organs start to fail. Most of the time, though, cells are robust, quickly replaced, and healthy. Conducted by our DNA, the cells are like an orchestra playing a symphony. When we eat, exercise and rest, they retune. And everything continues to sound wonderful. Though, less so as we age, or are under attack from bacteria, virus, fungi, or simply the stresses of everyday life.

How can we look after the health of our cells?

We know we can stay healthy by taking care of our overall health. However, not focusing on our cellular health, is like worrying about the wheels of the bike, and not worrying about the chain. Indeed, the body is like a well-oiled machine, and it needs to stay oiled to go places. The easiest way to look after our cells is to make sure they’re constantly fed with the nutrients they need. Vitamins and minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates, for sure. Then, we all know we need lots of water, right? That 99% of the human body is, in fact, water? But did you know that the second most abundant molecule in the body is NAD+. Never heard of it? That’s because the world is only beginning to discover just how important it is. Even though scientists have known for ages that it’s an essential cog in the wheel of every single one of our cells.

What on Earth is NAD+?

While there are 30 trillion human cells, more than 1000 million chemical reactions are going on in every one of those cells, every single second. Oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, or NAD+, is a helper molecule in those reactions, which can’t take place without it. How does NAD+ help? Well, by taking an electron from one molecule and passing it on to the next, allowing a whole bunch of molecules to combine, break apart, and change into something else. In doing so, it helps unlock the energy stored in glucose and fatty acids in the mitochondria, at the heart of every cell. And it helps repair DNA in the cell’s nucleus, or its brain. Without NAD+, or enough of it, the chain of reactions is broken, and cells begin to starve, or suffocate.  But here is the thing, as you age, NAD+ level in your cells decrease. By age 45, you have about half the NAD+ you had at 20. And today’s lifestyle doesn’t help either. Stress, bad diet, lack of exercise, pollution can be added to the list that consume and diminish your level of NAD+ along with aging. And as all biological processes need it to work and ward off the aging effects, scientists have started to wonder how to replenish NAD+ stocks with a special attention to biotechnologies. This is how they came to NMN.

NMN : the molecule to maintain your cellular health

NMN or Nicotinamide mononucleotide is a natural molecule that occurs in all life forms. And the body uses NMN to produce NAD+ and energize, maintain, and repair the 37.2 trillion of cells in it. In fact, supplementing with NMN has been shown to have profound effects on wellbeing but also on how people age thanks to its ability to restore and maintain levels of NAD+.All these functions combined lead to a healthy body, and a healthy body ages better. From energy production to cellular ‘respiration’, which is the process of turning nutrients into energy, NMN can help you to maintain a healthy metabolism.

By replenishing and maintaining NAD+ levels, our NMN-C® delivers a steady amount of the raw ingredient the body needs to naturally boost NAD+ levels, helping you maintain critical elements of your health and live at your prime for longer.
